At first glance, moving a pallet from point A to point B seems like a simple and straightforward task. After all, human workers have been completing this job relatively easily for decades. Even inexperienced employees can usually operate a manual pallet jack after just a brief training, and humans are not intimidated by damaged pallets or shrink wrap covering maintenance holes. However, for robots, this seemingly simple task is much more complex, which is known as theMoravec's Paradox-- that tasks which humans find easy to perform, such as perception and movement, are extremely challenging for robots.
